Terrarium Workshop

Feb 14th sold out fast, but--hooray!--Jodi has agreed to do a second terrarium class on Valentine's Weekend! So, you can do an intimate dinner at a local restaurant on the 14th (La HaciendaEggs in the City, CucinaLaziz are faves of ours!), while popping the most romantic question ever... "Will you spend Saturday night learning about and making miniature ecosystems with me?"

Oh, and not to burst any bubbles but... no date required. Seriously. You can create miniature ecosystems on your own too. We're here to support your relationship with plants foremost.

Join us for Jodi Mardesich Smith's workshop on terrariums! Learn all about building, pruning and caring for terrariums from Salt Lake City's expert! Jodi has more than a decade's experience with these mini gardens in glass and tons to share about their history, science, and application.

Cost

$45 includes instruction, substrate, plants, and moss for a medium-sized containers (about 6" diameter). To fill multiple or larger containers, additional materials are available to purchase at a discount.

Preparation

Bring a glass container that is meaningful to you - upcycling is encouraged (think an aunt's novelty box, swap meet find, emptied liqueur bottle, or even a simple piece from your local thrift shop!). The container should be clear, mostly water-tight, tall enough to give plants room to grow, and ideally have a lid to encourage the internal environment to create its own ecosystem. If you don't have time to find a treasured piece, you can buy a container at Thyme and Place, but please note options may be limited.
